Big Walk reaches Adelaide
Australia's inaugural Big Walk 4 Refugees arrived in Adelaide this morning, four days and more than 1,500 km into a 42-day, 16,650 km virtual walk from Hobart to Canberra to show support for 10,000 refugees who continue to face prolonged uncertainty in Australia.
The Big Walk 4 Refugees launched on 13 Feb, the one-year anniversary of the Australian Government’s announcement of permanent pathways for 19,000 refugees which has been life-changing for many who have obtained permanent visas in the twelve months since.
South Australian groups, including SA Mums for Refugees, SA Justice for Refugees, Welcoming Australia, are helping to propel the 16,650 km loop around Australia. Pushing prams, hitting pavements, bush trails and dog paths to send the message that 10,000 refugees living in our communities should be able to call Australia home.
